In addition to Table Rock Mountain, the park contains Pinnacle Mountain, the highest mountain contained entirely within the state of South Carolina. Perhaps one of the most famous mountains in the area is Table Rock State Park, located just to the north of Pickens, but still in the Pickens area, which has been a symbol for Pickens and can be seen throughout Pickens and nearby cities such as Easley and Greenville. Sixty-five acres of the mountain are part of the South Carolina Heritage Trust, and contain varied and rare plant species. Glassy Mountain is an excellent example of a piedmont monadnock, which are rare in South Carolina. Glassy Mountain, located east of Pickens, is a small mountain that can be reached by several small private roads. Pickens also has several small mountains that surround the city. When Great Britain was defeated in the war, the Cherokee were forced to surrender their land. During the American Revolutionary War, the Cherokee sided with the Kingdom of Great Britain. Present-day Pickens of Pickens County was previously Cherokee Territory. The park features a playground, workout equipment, picnic tables, restrooms, water fountains and a shelter. The City of Easley's Doodle Park is one mile from Downtown Easley. There are various scenic bridges and nice trailhead areas at both beginning/ending points. The Doodle Trail is not only a nice paved trail for the entirety of the route, it is also a safe path located mostly away from traffic with only a few road crossings. Unauthorized mopeds or motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trail. The multi-use trail is open from dawn to dusk for biking, walking, running and rollerblading. The Doodle Trail is a 7.5 mile rails-to-trails partnership between the City of Easley and the City of Pickens that opened Memorial Day Weekend 2015.
